English Longhorns can be found grazing in enclosures throughout the National Nature Reserve. They are easily identified by their long, curved horns and white patches along their backs and under their bellies.
A rare breed, they were originally domesticated as draught and dairy cattle. English Longhorns live longer than other breeds and are renowned for calving easily.
The cattle were introduced in 2005 to graze and trample down undergrowth, stopping open spaces in the forest disappearing.
